Welcome to Dancing Swallows!
Experience Dancing Swallows
A visit to our ‘outdoor tasting garden’ is a unique experience. Located under the largest of the farm’s maple trees, the centrepiece of the garden is our tasting bar / reconditioned shipping container.
The effect is a bit West Coast, a bit food-truck festival, with some heritage farm buildings thrown in for colour. Surrounding the tasting bar is a garden with its own microclimate. (It’s a very big tree.) And we have plenty of picnic tables and Muskoka chairs to let you enjoy the garden.
Come into the Garden
An outdoor-only tasting area does mean the full tasting area isn't available year round. We try to be open May to October. And it does get interesting on the less clement days, so we suggest checking out the forecast before planning a visit.
What we can promise is an experience unlike anything else in the area. And some pretty good wine.
Not your typical wine tasting
If you are looking to find out for yourself what are wines are like, you'll find a DSV a wine tasting is not something to be done quickly - you need time to let the wine evolve in the glass, and it's best to be able to go back and forth comparing different wines.
That's why we serve tasting flights at your table, Muskoka chair, or even picnic blanket! That way you'll to have time to explore our wines at you own pace.
If you have a question about the wines, our retail staff know what you're tasting from grape to glass. They've planted, pruned, picked, pressed, packaged, and poured what's in your glass. And if you want to get technical, our winemaker, Scott, is usually around.
And not just wine
If you're not feeling like wine today, why not try a wine cocktail?
We have lot of fun mixing up cocktails using our various wines. From classic Spanish Kalimotxo to our own creations like Mia’s Sunrise, we have an ever-evolving selection of wine cocktails for you to enjoy.
From sweet to savoury you'll find something to enjoy. If you find something you want to try at home we're happy to share the recipe.
Why not B.Y.O.P. (Bring You Own Picnic)?
If you like, you can even bring your own picnic - we have lots of napkins ready for you. (Table decorations are your responsibility.)
For B.Y.O.Picnic, it's best to call and make a reservation - that way we'll have a spot set aside for you. If your group is bigger than 6, reservations are a really a necessity - we'll have to rearrange the furniture :)
And while don't have a restaurant on site, we do have a selection of interesting prepackaged snacks perfect for 'filling the corners'. These are ideal mid-afternoon on your wine tour in EPIC wine country.
