i4C Chardonnay and ‘Chef’ Outdoor Dining Experience
Who doesn’t love a movie that glorifies food? ‘Big Night’, ‘Chocolat’, ‘Eat Pray Love’, ‘The Hundred Foot Journey’; all have a place in our food porn viewing list. But our favourite is ‘Chef’. Jon Favreau wrote and directed this 2014 film that tells the story of a high-end LA chef who loses his job, and rediscovers his love of cooking with a food truck. It’s a lovely little film that captures the excitement of food, and the joy of doing something small and unique. It speaks to what we are trying to do here at Dancing Swallows.
To celebrate the International Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration (i4C) weekend we will be hosting two seatings of a special “Chef and Chardonnay” outdoor dining experience, with a menu inspired by the movie ‘Chef’. We’re talking small plates of Tostones, Cubanos, Arroz Con Pollo, Texas Smoked Beef Brisket, plus more, all served in our outdoor tasting area with some exceptional Chardonnays.
Date: Friday July 23rd / Saturday July 24, 7 to 9PM
Location: Dancing Swallows Vineyard, 8704 Howard Ave, Amherstburg
Price: $95 plus HST
About the weather forecast:
Right now, the forecasts for our event times look good, if not perfect. There is a chance of rain in some of the forecasts. (But this is July 2021 so the safe move is to predict rain.)
But we are optimistic – our event time is later in the day than most of the rain probabilities. And we’ve found these tough little tents that stood up to even the rain we had this past Friday (2-1/4” at our site) keeping the tables and chairs inside nice and dry.
If the worst happens and we get a rainout we will arrange a rain day, and give folks to the choice to whether to use the rain date or get a full refund.
P.S. ‘Chef’ is currently showing on Netflix Canada. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. If you have seen it, it’s worth a rewatch. Just have a good dinner lined up for afterwards 😊
